Personal Statement

My research interests are in the fields of biomedical optics, cardiovascular biosystems, biomedical signal processing and machine learning.

My primary research contributions are the development of novel biophotonic imaging systems for safe, non-invasive and non-contact physiological imaging. I co-invented coded hemodynamic imaging , an imaging system that co-integrates optics, electronics, hardware and software for non-invasive wide area cardiovascular imaging. I have published 38 refereed journal and conference papers, delivered 33 presentations across 3 countries, submitted 2 patents in domestic and international markets, and supervised 21 undergraduate and graduate students. My research has been publicly recognized through international Press.

I have received a number of Awards and recognitions, including scholarly awards (Newport Research Excellence Award, Alexander Graham Bell Canadian Graduate Scholarship, Graduate Student Award in Technology and Aging, Mitacs Accelerate Graduate Research Award, President's Graduate Scholarship), fellowships (Carl Pollock Postgraduate Fellowship, Computational Biophotonics Research Fellowship), and communication awards (Sandford Fleming Foundation Teaching Assistantship Excellence Award, Best Presentation, Best Demonstration).
